How do I get permission to use Disney/Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas to put it on as a play?

I am intrested in putting on a stage production of “the nightmare before christmas” but I know with copyright laws and everything I would need permission to do this. How and who would I go about contacting for this?

You will not be able to. The rights to The Nightmare Before Christmas have not been given to a theatrical organization as of yet. If you wanted to produce a play based on the movie you would have to find out who controls the naming and entertainment rights to the franchise (probably whichever movie studio produced the film). From there you would need to get a lawyer to negotiate pricing, royalties, and rights issues so that the proper people get paid, named, and informed of the proceedings.

Once the rights are secured, you would need to find producers willing to back a show so that you have financial stability to produce said show. Basically – unless you are a large theatre or entertainment magnate your chances of doing this are slim to none.
